Let’s face it. Sometimes we are suffering and for whatever reason, many have been taught that we have to pretend it’s all good. You don’t have to add, “But praise God.” In the Bible, we read that Jesus was about to be crucified. He was suffering inside thinking about what was ahead of him. It doesn’t say he was singing and dancing in the garden. Instead, we read that He was sweating blood. That’s intense agony! He even asked the Father for a way out! Jesus ultimately went to the cross with a joy that was only deepened by sorrow as he recognized the pain of mankind.
Friends, God never requires you to act hyper-spiritual.
If sorrow clouds your soul, don’t fight it. You can cry out in agony. In that authenticity and honesty, God will meet you and you’ll find yourself in His arms of love, mercy, and grace. It’s in these moments of sadness that we must allow Christ in and let Him be present with our pain. He understands the sorrow within you. The Bible says He was a man of many sorrows. He wept alone. He was tormented and forsaken. You can be assured that a man that has been forsaken will never forsake you.
Jesus is the only one who knows what all you’ve been through.
He’s the only one who knows the deepest, darkest spots of your life, and still, He remains. Jesus has scars that He is trustworthy. He was the only one whose heart bled for you and He is never EVER going to stop loving you. He was more broken-hearted, betrayed, scared than anyone ever will be, yet He did not shut himself off from you. Instead, He calls you unto Himself. Sometimes, trusting others can be challenging. Perhaps you struggle to trust others right now, but if you will you choose to trust Him today and invite Him to be present in your situation, your joy will be made full and you will find Him to be faithful.
