Your Identity In Christ –
When you find Jesus as your Savior, your old man has died and your new man is alive through Christ. You have become a new creature, all things are made new, you have been reconciled, healed, and restored. You have been born again and your new man lives life from the perspective of the way it was for Adam and Eve in the garden. There is no fear, you have a sound mind, you are in Christ and He is in you. He sees you as righteous. You have a new identity as a son or daughter of God.
The problem is, a lot of us, if we are honest, came to Christ with an escapism or survival-selfish motivation.
We came to Jesus looking for a way to escape hell and were looking for
- Prosperity
- Supply
- Protection
- Whatever else we desire to get
We have needs and have found the Gospel as a benefit instead of coming to Him for what Christ did for us. The Gospel is for us to be transformed into the Father’s image through intimacy so our light would shine into the world and they would know Him.
Now all of a sudden, because you have believed that you are serving him for your better benefit, you begin to walk frustrated because of what someone said or did to you, or what life and experiences are dishing out. Maybe you’ve allowed life to matter more instead of making what matters most (the Father and what Christ did) be the priority.
We tend to pick up our identity from experience and not Christ
We so often let other people tell us what our image is through their selfishness and hurt.
They say things like you’re not good enough or you’ll never amount to anything. We have buttons that get pushed and we react. We allow people to tell us who is good and who is bad, what is good and what is bad, and we learn to survive with those tactics. The pressures of the world begin to surmount causing us to feel frustrated and irritated.
We place value on how many likes we get on social media or compare ourselves to others, but your value is more than what someone else thinks or what you may think of yourself.
God sent His son to die for you. You laid His life down for you because He saw your value, your destiny in the Kingdom, and He has enough faith in you that He raised Him from the dead so you could live in Him.
Faith is more about becoming like His image than making a mountain move. The mountain will move if you have the faith in Christ, not in things or experience in the world.
You are more than an overcomer! Begin to live life to its fullest!
